Celebrate Library Month

October is Canadian Library Month! During this month, libraries across the country raise awareness of the valuable role libraries play in Canadian lives. To celebrate FVRL is giving away a great prize pack of FVRL swag and three library-themed books: The Strange Library, Library Lion, and Mr. Lemoncello's Library. Anyone can enter for a chance to win! Contest closes October 31.

In honour of Library Month we are also excited to share a behind-the-scenes look into all the great work we do at the library. Take a peek at our Day in the Life video to see a small glimpse into how libraries change and enhance lives everyday.

Episode 21: FVRL Digital Services Librarian Natalie reviews the Jackson Brodie novels by Kate Atkinson. Private investigator Jackson Brodie is a former soldier and policeman from Yorkshire with a tough-guy exterior and a deeply empathetic heart. There are four mystery novels in the series: Case Histories, One Good Turn, When Will There Be Good News?, and Started Early, Took My Dog.

Episode 22 : Terry Fox librarian Austin reviews The Locals by Jonathan Dee. In this novel a rural working-class New England town elects as its mayor a New York hedge fund millionaire. This story is about the locals in town, the townies, whose lives are disrupted by the new mayor's wealth and power.
